Gary Briggs
Dirty indie and punk classics.
As the lead man in indie outfit Haven, Gary Briggs and his band were the protegees of former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. With a voice described as ‘a choirboy on Jack Daniels’, Gary and the band hit the charts with songs such as Say Something, before disbanding to work with the next generation of up-and-coming Manchester musicians courtesy of a training programme for young people. As collaborator in the rock n roll-tastic Freebass project with Peter Hook, this indie hero knows what he likes. Alongside teaching and singing, that happens to be DJing. Gary can be regularly spotted playing indie, punk and dance in packed venues around Manchester.
